Jarek Watch 2005

Jarek made it out into the world last night at 10:21 p.m. He weighs in at 8 pounds and 9 ounces with a length of 21.5 inches. (He wanted me to make sure I got that .5 in there) He entered out lives needing a hair cut and didn't have a dime to help chip in. I have the feeling there will be plenty of days like that.

Sharon did so wonderful under the circumstances and did not even know that they had to shut off the epideral to increase her contractions and allow for a better push. I didn't have the heart to tell her either. Michelle and I were there for support, but the Dr. had to use a mini vaccuum to help get Jarek into the birth canal.

I was allowed to cut the cord and put on his first diaper. I told the nurse that I may have been the first to put on his diaper, but that this would be the last time that I do that at all. Overall, the experience was tiring for Sharon and I tried to keep things interesting with narratives and charts on the dry erase board (which some of you can see on the DVD when it comes out next spring...Jarek Watch 2005). Seriously, I had the opportunity to borrow Rusty's DVD video camera which was great and I have some cute clips from the 15 hour labor process.

We are so excited to see him and hope all of you will visit and welcome him with us to our family!!! I have to go back to the hospital now and make sure Sharon and Jarek are okay. Talk to you all later.
